The physicians and staff of the Weil Foot & Ankle Institute are dedicated to using the latest research and most advanced technology to deliver exceptional podiatric care to people throughout Chicagoland and northeastern Illinois. Their services—whether preventive care or corrective surgery—have earned the Institute international recognition and steady growth for over
four decades.
History
Dr. Lowell Scott Weil, Sr. began the practice of podiatric medicine and surgery in 1965 in Des Plaines, Illinois. Since then, the practice has grown to fifteen podiatric physicians and an anesthesiologist/pain specialist providing foot and ankle services at twelve locations. With the addition of each physician, the scope of services has expanded as well as the number of patients receiving care at our facilities.
Services provided at the Weil Foot & Ankle Institute include reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, diabetic wound care, pediatric foot disorders, sports medicine, and general foot care. Recognized as an international leader in podiatric medicine and surgery, the doctors at Weil Foot & Ankle Institute have provided care and treatment to more than 100,000 patients in the past 44 years.
The Foot & Ankle Surgical Center, a fully licensed and Medicare Approved Ambulatory Surgery Center, was opened in 1994. Patients requiring surgical procedures are able to receive care in an ambulatory surgical setting rather than in a hospital. To date, more than 30,000 surgical procedures have been performed in the Foot & Ankle Surgical Center.
