Siemens Jazz MRI
Introduction:
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is the fastest and safest, non invasive way to get the clearest pictures for your Foot & Ankle Anatomy.
Installed in November 2006 we began patient services in January 2007 following eight weeks of testing. Our machine is a sophisticated state-of-the-art, technologically advanced Siemens' Jazz Extremity OPEN MRI. It is much quieter than the big tube MRI's and with no claustrophobic effect to our patients.
Purpose:
This service provides our physicians with the ability to detect cartilage injuries, fractures, infections, ligament and tendon injuries, and other abnormalities earlier in the treatment program, allowing us to provide the appropriate care without a trial and error mentality.
Reports:
Our MRI images are interpreted by The Franklin & Seidelmann (F&S) group of Radiologist, considered to be one of the best musculoskeletal radiology subspecialty groups in the country.
Reports generated by F&S are prompt, precise and pathologically brilliant, allowing our Podiatric Physicians a tool to decide the best possible diagnostic outcome on every individual case.
Patient Information:
Safety: MRI is a painless procedure that has virtually no known side effects. To date, millions of patients have experienced MRI and the procedure has been proved to be extremely safe. MRI uses a magnet instead of x-rays and it is considered to be safer than the other radiological techniques that use radiation.
Exceptions are patients with brain aneurysm clips, metallic foreign bodies in the eye, very recent surgery with orthopedic implants, pacemakers or cochlear implants.
If you think you may be pregnant, please notify the physician and the technologist.
Since MRI uses an extremely strong magnetic, no metallic objects will be allowed in the scanning room.
To ensure your safety you will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire that will be given to you before MRI scanning. There are no restrictions regarding eating, activities, or your regular medications before or after the test.
Our patient services staff will schedule an appointment for an MRI once it is ordered by your Podiatric physician. Please try to wear clothing that has too many metal clips. Jewelry, watches, and credit cards will not be allowed in the scanning room. Please try not to wear any clothing that has too many metal clips. Jewelry, Watch, Credit cards will not be allowed in the scanning room.

An MRI at our facility takes about one hour. Images are taken with great precision and with almost total continuity so as to avoid missing important pathology that warranted the MRI in the first place. Once your imaging is complete, you will be set up with a MRI review appointment with your physician. Your report will be made available to your physician within 24 to 48 hours of your imaging.
