Dr. Erin Klein DPM
“When it comes to medicine, patients are my first priority, and I am excited to be able to practice and serve my home state of Illinois.”
About Dr. Klein
Board Certified Podiatrist
Dr. Klein grew up in Oak Park, IL and remembers always wanting to be a physician. While many people with this same memory would remember their pediatrician as a child, she remembers their podiatrist, whom she visited first at the age of 8, for a wart, to a variety of other random foot issues throughout the years. Most importantly, she remembers always feeling better after leaving his office. As a competitive skater and part of the Miami University Synchronized Skating Team throughout college, Dr. Klein’s foot problems continued into early adulthood. Being a Division I college student athlete for four years was an experience that had an exceptional effect on who she is today.
After completing her Master’s degree at Miami University, she attended The William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Her residency was focused on treating veterans at Long Island’s Northport Veterans Affairs Hospital, training with one of the best foot and ankle orthopedic trauma surgeons in the region. The experience of training at the VA was one that exceeded most other training facilities, providing her with a more thorough understanding of the human body and how foot pathology is related to the rest of the body. This experience also fueled her understanding and ability to analyze complex situations and patients in the pursuit of better patient care.
Her year as a fellow was spent in an intense study of surgical mastery with an emphasis on surgical research, where Dr. Weil Sr and Jr impressed the importance of critical self-assessment in an effort to improve ourselves and the care of others, striving to improve patient care and patient outcomes. Since that year, the WFAI research team has won multiple grant awards and presented research on the national and international podiatric and orthopedic stage. It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of the Weil Foot & Ankle Institute team, providing cutting edge care to patients while genuinely doing what she loves.
When not at work, you can find Dr. Klein enjoying the outdoors, with her husband, Brian, their twins, Evelyn and Riley, and her parents, Dan & Georgette.

Testimonials
In October 2017 I was admitted to Lake Forest hospital. Dr Erin Klein visited me, as she was the podiatrist on call about a severe diabetic related blister and infection on my heal. It was so bad that the possibility of losing my foot had been a reality. Starting at that point, severAl methods were tried to help the wounds/ that persisted for over 1.5 years . After weekly visits for over 1 year , placenta grafts applied to my heal, my leg/s being wrapped (to help healing process) And weekly visits to Lake Forest hospital, finally my feet have been wound free for going on 6 months now. The creativity used to come up with a personalized plan to help my body heal these wounds, and the pAtience of Erin, KAtie, and her staff at Bannickburn, and Libertyville, is really remarkable and really unique in today’s medical practice experience. Being almost 65 years old, scared of the possibility of losing a limb, Erin made me feel welcome every time, even though it was a weekly visit for over a year. I can’t thank Erin and her team enough. A truly heartfelt Thank You!

I've had 5 foot/ankle surgeries in totally over 25 years. The last surgery was with Dr Erin Klein (a podiatrist) and I've had the best post surgical outcome of all. The other 4 foot surgeries were done with orthopedic foot specialist. If it matters I'm an exercise enthusiast, I love to run and am back to my normal, crazy and fun schedule.

Dr. Klein and Katie, the clinical assistant, are both top-notch. Dr. Klein is an excellent listener, asks great clarifying questions, and doesn't make me feel rushed. She has incredible knowledge and I feel that I can trust her completely with my health issues. Katie took the time to find an ankle brace that worked with my injury. She was very patient explaining how to put it on and made sure I was comfortable with the instructions. I highly recommend Dr. Klein and the Weil Foot & Ankle Institute.
