About Dr. Bernstein
Board Certified Podiatrist
Dr. Jennifer Bernstein grew up in the west suburbs of Chicago, where she was a competitive figure skater with the International Skating Corporation and a member of the DuPage Figure Skating Club. Over time, she suffered injuries that led her to pursue other goals. Dr. Bernstein attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she obtained her undergraduate degree in kinesiology, determining that podiatry could be a great way to connect to the figure skating world through the treatment of injured athletes.
After graduating from UIC in 2009, Dr. Bernstein has attended the William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago and graduated in 2013. She then spent three years completing her podiatric medicine and surgery residency at the University of Louisville and Jewish hospitals. Here she also received exceptional training in reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery.
Happy to be back in the Chicago area, Dr. Bernstein enjoys treating all aspects of foot and ankle pathology in patients of all ages. In her free time, she is fond of watching the Food Network, cooking, and trying new restaurants.

I have had very bad, somewhat deformed feet since I was a child and have had surgery in all of my toes twice. I've coped. I went to Dr. Bernstein with foot pain and a very big limp which I had had for over a year. In one visit Dr. Bernstein was able to remove a very thick callus which immediately greatly reduced my pain. This fall my foot was injured by a falling tree limb and Dr. Bernstein immediately got me in, did x-rays and fitted me with a boot. I have recovered well from that. I now go to her regularly to maintain a better condition of my feet and am able to resume all of my regular activities without pain. I LOVE this doctor and would recommend her to anyone!
Dr. Bernstein and Cassandra are an awesome team that have made me feel confident about my amputation and all complications that we have run into. Do go far and beyond what their positions require them to do. I don’t feel like it’s a doctors visit or follow up appointment, it feels more like family and very personal. Have recommended so many diabetics and regular patients to her and your practice. They need to be recognized at what and how they do things and treat people. Would never want to leave them.
I saw Dr. Bernstein for the first time ever today. She treated my ingrown toenails by a simple in office procedure. I was nervous about the numbing injection, but her technique and care made it less painful than any tattoos I’ve gotten(which is quite a few). The receptionists and asistants at the Bannockburn office were very friendly, pleasant and helpful. I would highly recommend to anyone needing foot/ankle care.
