Born and raised in Chicago's northern suburbs, Dr. Alexander is a graduate of the University of Illinois and The William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Dr. Alexander completed a three-year surgical residency at Jesse Brown side VA Medical Center (WestSide VA) affiliated with University of Illinois at Chicago Hospital. He also completed an advanced reconstructive surgical fellowship in Europe and is trained in the most current surgical techniques, including arthroscopic foot and ankle surgery, external fixation, ankle joint replacement, laser surgery, and advanced wound care and diabetic limb salvage. Throughout all of his practice, Dr. Alexander emphasizes transparency and communication. He believes that when armed with knowledge, patients can be better stewards of their own healthcare. Dr. Alexander is passionate about training students, residents, and future doctors and serves as the Residency Director for Rush University Medical Center. He lectures nationally and internationally on a variety of subjects including infections, wound care, and advanced surgical treatments. Dr. Alexander lives in Highland Park with his wife and three children. He is a triathlete, competitive baseball player, and is still reveling in his fifteen minutes of fame on America's Funniest Home Videos in 1990, where he won third place.
