About Ruth Urquizu DPT
Physical Therapist
Ruth Urquizu has been a practicing physical therapist in the Chicago area for over 20 years. She specializes in outpatient and sports orthopedics and has worked with some of the best orthopedic surgeons in the region. Her manual skills and ability to connect with her patients have been key in helping her patients’ achieve successful outcomes. Ruth has extensive experience in treating patients with traumatic injuries and returning them to work at full capacity. Her professional mantra is, “when the foot hits the ground, everything happens!”
Ruth joined the Weil Foot & Ankle Physical Therapy team in January of 2020 and will be splitting her time between the Lincoln Park and Oak Park clinics. She earned her Physical Therapy degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago and her Masters degree in Exercise Physiology from Northern Illinois University.
As a first generation American, Ruth is the daughter of immigrants from Mexico and South America. She has an intimate knowledge of Latin culture and is fluent in Spanish. She also makes a pretty good rice dish (but that’s about it). As a former college athlete (field hockey) and Master’s swimmer with a few triathlons under her belt, Ruth can relate to the athlete and their injuries. One of her proudest feats is summiting the Grand Teton in Wyoming. Her hobbies now include Thai chi, yoga, and keeping up with her two miniature schnauzers, Daisy and Ollie. Of course, climbing up and down 240 stairs a day as a Chicago commuter also keeps her happy and fit.
